News Updates for April 04-10, 2024

On Tuesday, March 26th, the Tolono Public Library District Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Donica Swann as the new Library Director effective April 1st, 2024. Donica has earned her MLS in Library Administration from the University of Kentucky and her MA in English Literature from Eastern Illinois University. She has fifteen years of library experience in her past roles at the Champaign County Historical Archives, The Urbana Free Library, and Illinois State University. Connecting communities to their cultural heritage and information resources is her passion. Donica also teaches graduate courses in information sciences as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Illinois.

The tremendous contributions of the current Library Director Janet Cler during her nearly 30-plus-year career with the Tolono Public Library District are appreciated. Her contributions have provided a great foundation for all who follow. Janet’s last day in the Library will be Friday, April 19th.

We are still offering viewing glasses to safely watch the solar eclipse on April 8th while supplies last. Kids can receive an eclipse kit, which includes two sets of viewing glasses, educational info about eclipses, coloring sheets, and a craft!

Children’s Storytime / Thursday, April 4th, 10:00—10:30 a.m. Come to the Library for a fun storytime filled with stories, songs, and silly rhymes. Recommended Ages: 0-5.

Kids Take-Home Crafts / Sunday, April 7th Stop in at the Library to pick up a craft that you can make at home! Kits are available first come, first served while supplies last. Recommended Ages: 0-11.
