TOLONO PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT NEWS FOR DECEMBER 1—7, 2022

One of our biggest events of the year is happening on Friday, December 2nd – Santa’s coming to the Library! From 5:00—6:30 p.m., you’ll have a chance to sit down and chat with Santa and have your photo taken with him! We’ll also have wrapped books, a fun activity, and light refreshments available! All ages welcome.

PROGRAMS & EVENTS THIS WEEK

Kids Craft Time / Thursday, December 1st, 3:30—5:30 p.m. Stop by the Library to make some homemade ornaments or take a kit home with you! Recommended Ages: 6-11.

Santa at the Library / Friday, December 2nd, 5:00—6:30 p.m. Santa is coming to the Library to meet with all the children and to take photos! Special guest Hugo, Santa’s brother, is also coming to visit. All ages welcome!

Children’s Storytime / Monday, December 5th, 10:00—10:45 a.m. Come to the Library for a fun story time filled with stories, songs, and silly rhymes! Recommended Ages: 0-5.

Coffee Talk / Wednesday, December 7th, 9:00—10:00 a.m. This month’s session will take place at the Tolono Historical Society, where Jane Berbaum will give a special presentation on the 81st anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor.

Fall Bingo @ the Library / Wednesday, December 7th, 4:00—4:30 p.m. NEW TIME! Play this ever-popular game, earn prizes, and enjoy some great company each Wednesday. No registration necessary! Recommended Ages: 6-11.

We’re looking for feedback on how we can best improve our services and programs to fit our community’s needs! Paper surveys are available in our lobby as well as on our Facebook page or our website.

The Library will be closed Thursday, November 24th and Friday, November 25th for Thanksgiving. We’ll reopen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday the 26th.

The Library will be closed Thursday, November 24th and Friday, November 25th for Thanksgiving. We’ll reopen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday the 26th.

Family Reading Night Take-Home Kits / Thursday, November 17th Stop by the Library while we’re open to pick up your Family Reading Night kit and check out a few extra books along the way. First come, first served while supplies last.

Adult Craft N’ Chat: Floral Tealight Jars / Friday, November 18th, 5:00—6:00 p.m. Come make some beautiful flower-adorned jars that glow from within! Registration required.

Children’s Storytime / Monday, November 21st, 10:00—10:45 a.m. Come to the Library for a fun story time filled with stories, songs, and silly rhymes! Recommended Ages: 0-5.

Coffee Talk: Potluck Breakfast / Wednesday, November 23rd, 9:00—10:00 a.m. Join us at the Library and enjoy a potluck breakfast to celebrate the busy weekend ahead with great company. If you are able, bring something along!

The Library will be closed Friday, November 11th in honor of Veterans Day. We’ll reopen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Kids Craft Time / Thursday, November 10th, 3:30—5:30 p.m. Come to the Library to make an owl wall hanging or take a kit home with you! Recommended Ages: 6-11.

Owls with the Urbana Park District / Saturday, November 12th, 11:00—12:00 p.m. The Anita Purves Nature Center will be teaching us all about nighttime birds of prey with time for questions and discussion. Recommended Ages: 6-11.

Children’s Storytime / Monday, November 14th, 10:00—10:45 a.m. Come to the Library for a fun story time filled with stories, songs, and silly rhymes! Recommended Ages: 0-5.

Teen Crafternoon: Botanical Potions / Tuesday, November 15th, 4:30—5:30 p.m. Join us at the Library to use dried flowers and oil to make beautiful floral creations! All materials provided, no registration necessary.

Illinois Libraries Present: A Conversation with Caitlin Doughty / Wednesday, November 16th, 7:00-8:00 p.m. Join us via Zoom for a conversation with Caitlin Doughty, mortician, bestselling author, and advocate for death acceptance. Registration required.
