Sourdough Starter Class / Friday, May 31st, 5:30—6:30 p.m. Join the Illinois Extension at the Library for an introductory class on sourdough and unlock the secrets of building and maintaining your own thriving sourdough starter! You will learn the science behind sourdough, plus feeding and care techniques, and you’ll take home everything you need to make your own starter. Limited space. Please register online or by calling the Library. Recommended Ages: 19+.

Summer Reading Kickoff Party / Saturday, June 1st, 11:00—1:00 p.m. It’s time to kick off the Summer Reading Program! Come by the Library and have some fun! Grab a bag of popcorn and get signed up for the Summer Reading Program to start earning prizes and raffle tickets. All ages welcome.

Spice It Up: Cayenne Pepper Kit / Sunday, June 2nd Cayenne Pepper is a hot chili pepper that can be used on seafood, meats and stews, casseroles, and more! Your kit will include a portion of the seasoning and several recipes to try! Kits are available first come, first served while supplies last. Recommended Ages: 19+.

Illinois Libraries Presents: Temple Grandin: The Hidden Gifts of Visual Thinkers (via Zoom) / Tuesday, June 4th, 7:00—8:00 p.m. Join us via Zoom for a special event with Dr. Grandin, one of the world’s most accomplished and well-known adults with autism. Dr. Grandin has been at the forefront of research and activism for autism and neurodiversity for decades. Registration required.

Coffee Talk / Wednesday, June 5th, 9:00—10:00 a.m. Twice a month, seniors are welcome to visit for coffee and light refreshments in the company of other seniors in the community! This week, local author Jean Hinton will be in to discuss her novel, “The House by the Side of the Road” and how her experiences as a local social worker impacted her creative process. Recommended Ages: Senior.

LEGO® Club / Wednesday, June 5th, 1:00—3:00 p.m. Come build a creative LEGO® design at the Library! All materials will be provided, you just bring the imagination. Recommended Ages: 6-11.

Family Game Night / Friday, June 7th, 5:00—7:00 p.m. Spend a night together with family playing an assortment of board games at the Library! We’ll have games ready to go or you can bring your own. Light refreshments will be provided. All ages welcome.
