News Updates for June 15-21, 2023

The Tolono Public Library is excited to announce an addition to our team! Claire Quin is our new Community Engagement Coordinator, and she will be managing our upcoming events and programs. Our upcoming calendar events are sure to have something for everyone with Claire’s passion for outreach and creativity. Programs and Events This Week

Adult Craft N’ Chat: DIY Yarn Bird / Friday, June 16th, 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Looking for ways to spruce up your home? Then look no further, because we’ll be making cute DIY yarn birds that will give you exactly what you’re looking for. Limited space. Please register online or by calling the Library. Recommended Ages: 18+.

Summer Saturdays in the Park: Find Your Voice / Saturday, June 17, 10:00 – 12:00 p.m. This summer, it’s time to “Find Your Voice” by reading and sharing stories, expressing yourself, and sparking change! The Savoy Rec Center and the Tolono Library will be at Colbert Park in Savoy. Please join us to participate in Mr. Bill’s “Music Together” program from the Champaign School of Music. Kids will also be able to create a “music” themed craft and grab a free book from the Tolono Library! All ages are welcome!

Play Hour with Friends / Monday, June 19th, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Bring along your little ones for a playdate at the Library while you enjoy conversation and coffee with other parents and caregivers in the community! Recommended Ages: 0-5.  

Outdoor Storytime / Tuesday, June 20th, 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. Come to the Library for a fun story time filled with stories, songs, and silly rhymes! Bring a blanket or lawn chair for story time on the grass. Recommended Ages: 0-5. 

Coffee Talk / Wednesday, June 21st, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Twice a month, seniors are welcome to visit the Library for coffee and light refreshments in the company of other seniors in the community! Recommended Ages: Senior.  

IL Libraries Present: Braiding Sweetgrass and the Honorable Harvest: A Conversation with Robin Wall Kimmerer (via Zoom) / Wednesday, June 21st, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Award-winning author of “Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants,” Robin Wall Kimmerer, will join us for a special evening via Zoom. In this insightful and inspiring talk, Robin will share her unique perspective on the interconnectedness of humans and nature and the importance of recognizing and respecting the gifts of the earth.
