News Updates for August 10-16, 2023

The Page Turners book club will meet again! Join other readers at the Tolono Library to chat about a novel over light refreshments. No registration necessary. For September 2nd’s meeting we’ll be reading “Killers of the Flower Moon: the Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI” by David Grann. The non-fiction book is being adapted into a movie premiering on Apple+ in October. Read the book first with the Page Turners. Call or stop by the Library to reserve your copy today. Programs and Events This Week

STEM Explorers: Solar Oven S’mores / Thursday, August 10th, 4:00—5:30 p.m. Stop by the Library and build an oven powered by the heat of the sun to toast some s’mores. While we build, we’ll talk about how light travels and why the sun is hot. Recommended Ages: 6-11.

Outdoor Storytime / Tuesday, August 15th, 10:00—10:30 a.m. Come to the Library for a fun story time filled with stories, songs, and silly rhymes. Recommended Ages: 0-5.

Coffee Talk / Wednesday, August 16th, 9:00—10:00 a.m. Twice a month, seniors are welcome to visit the Library for coffee and light refreshments in the company of other seniors in the community! Recommended Ages: Senior.

Kids Craft Time: Birdhouses / Thursday, August 17th, 3:30—5:30 p.m. Do the birds in your yard need a new home? Come to the Library to paint and decorate a birdhouse! Recommended Ages: 6-11.

Adult Craft N’ Chat: DIY Journals / Friday, August 18th, 5:30—7:00 p.m. Want to learn how to make your own journal by hand? Then stop by the Library to create one! Limited space. Register online or call the Library. Recommended Ages: 18+.

Summer Saturdays in the Park: Big Summer Bash / Saturday, August 19th, 10:00—12:00 p.m. Join us for our Big Summer Bash! Visit the Savoy Rec Center and the Tolono Library at Colbert Park in Savoy to enjoy some pizza. Kids will also be able to get their faces painted, pick up an animal balloon, and choose a free book. All ages are welcome!
