I: Mission Statement

The Tolono Public Library District strives to provide diverse programming and technology-based services to its residents, constantly improving and upgrading the resources for both patrons and staff.

II: Goals/Objectives

These goals/objectives are based on the mission statement Goals (objectives) for 2020-2025:

  1. Provide diverse programming aimed at patrons of all ages
    1. Increase the number of programs, both in the Library and off-site
    2. Increase the number of outreach programs
    3. Partner with Unit 4 and 7 schools to ensure the Library District is meeting the needs of students
    4. Expand computer-based programming for every age
  2. Deliver a wide range of services, emphasizing today’s technology-based world
    1. Update welcome packet with an overview of library collections and services (also made available
      online)
    2. Complete a comprehensive collection study of all resources to identify gaps
    3. Increase the circulation of electronic databases
    4. Create technology welcoming areas in the Library
  3. Optimize resources for patrons
    1. Apply for new grant opportunities each year
    2. Enhance the website to make it more user friendly
    3. Promote World Cat and other lesser-known resources
  4. Support ongoing professional staff development
    1. Encourage attendance at conferences, speaking opportunities, webinars, etc.
    2. Continue regular staff meetings
  5. Remain fiscally responsibility
    1. Maintain capital replacement schedule
    2. Provide a yearly balanced budget
  6. Promote Library Board Participation
    1. Promote the collections and services to the community
    2. Participate in relevant local, state, regional, and national decisions made to effect change that will benefit libraries
    3. Each board member attends one staff meeting annually
