News Updates for October 29-November 4, 2026

Early voting continues this week at the library, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.  Be sure to check the county clerk’s website for hours and information related to voting and the election.

As we come up on the end of the month, the IHLS Library Crawl is ending.  Make sure you return your passport with at least five stamps to us by November 2, so that you can be entered in the raffle for our Emma M. Lion basket!

Even with the voting machines taking over our meeting room space, programs at the library continue! This Saturday, October 31 from 11:00-1:00 is our annual Spooky & Book Bash!  The party will take place across the street from the library in the Events at 108 venue. Before you head out for the evening, practice your Trick-or-Treating with us! Try on your costumes and go “door-to-door” for treats and goodies. We will have pumpkin painting courtesy of the Friends of the Tolono Library (don’t worry, there will be smocks to cover the costumes!), cider, donuts, and a pumpkin carving contest.  Bring in your already carved pumpkins to be judged; winners will receive coupons for a free game of bowling or mini-golf from Old Orchard Lanes and Links or two passes to the Virginia Theater. We will also have several crafts to choose from! Make your own pipe cleaner pumpkins with clerk Jenny, construct a witch’s broom with clerk Leslie, or try your hand at our “Trick or Treat” guessing game: reach a hand in…will it be trick or a treat? This is an excellent way to kick off Halloween.

There is always something happening at the library; to see a full list of all our upcoming events, or to register for an event, be sure to visit our website, stop in and grab a calendar, or give us a call!
