Online Catalog Instructions

SHARE is a collection of libraries in central and southern Illinois that have joined together to form the largest automation consortium in the country.

The size of the consortium means that our patrons have access to over 10 million items which can be ordered from their home library, home computer, or mobile device, and have delivered within days to their home library via the IHLS courier service. The Tolono Public Library receives delivery items five days a week that come from over 480 libraries in the Share system.

Renew Items Out

Renewals are easy to do from our web site at www.tolonolibrary.org.

  • Once you are at our web site click on the “Online Catalog” tab at the top of the page
  • Click on the “My Account” tab
  • Click “Login/Register”
  • Enter your 14-digit library card number and your pin (the last four digits of your phone number)
  • Click on the “Login” button
  • Click “My Account” tab
  • Choose “Items Out”
  • Click in the box beside the item you want to renew
  • Click “Renew”>
  • When you are finished, log out of your account

Paying Fines & Fees (credit/debit card)

  • Click “My Account” on the tab
  • Click “Log In/Register”
  • Enter your 14-digit library card number and your pin (the last four digits of your phone number)
  • Click “My Record” on the My Account Menu
  • The “My Record” appears, and the side of the page displays a summary of your account information
  • Click “Fines & Fees”>
  • Select the items to be paid
  • Click “Pay Fines Now!”
  • Click “Continue”
  • Proceed entering your information as directed.  Please contact the library if you have any questions.

Do a Quick Search

  • Type a word or phrase in the “Quick library search” box
  • If you want to limit the search to the Tolono Library, select “My Library” or you can leave it on “All Formats” to see all items available from over 480 libraries in SHARE
  • Click “Go!”

Narrow Your Search

After you search a title, on the left hand side, there are different options to narrow your search to find the item you want.

  • Availability – see only what is available now
  • Assigned Branch – limit only by specific libraries
  • Type of material – choose between books, dvds, etc.
  • Subjects – narrow your search further to see other items similar to your search
  • Authors – search authors related to your initial search
  • Series – if your search is part of a series, check here to see other items in that series
  • Publication Date – check here to pick the newest items or search for older items
  • Target Audience – this will allow you to choose to see only items for a specific age group
  • Language – if you are searching for a different language, check here
  • Literacy Form – this will allow you to limit to fiction, non-fiction, etc.

Request a Title

Requests are easy to do from our web site at www.tolonolibrary.org

  • Click on the “My Account” tab
  • Click “Log In/Password”
  • Enter your 14-digit library card number and your pin (the last four digits of your phone number)
  • Search a word or phrase in the “Quick library search” box
  • Select the title in the search results, and click “Request It”
  • Select the name of the library where you want to pick up the item in the “Pickup Library” box
  • Click “Submit Request”
  • Click “Return to search results”

Check and Update Your Account

Follow these steps to check your account and update your personal information.

  • Click “My Account” on the tab
  • Click “LogIn/Password”
  • Enter your 14-digit library card number and your pin (the last four digits of your phone number)
  • Click “My Record” on the My Account menu
  • The “My Record” appears, and the side of the page displays a summary of your account information
  • Click “Contact Information” to display your personal information
